So Many Books, So Little Time

Just a short follow up from the last post...

I finished reading "A is for Alibi" by Sue Grafton (#1 in the Kinsey Millhone series) last night and I gave it 3 1/2 stars (technically 4 because Goodreads wouldn't let me select 1/2 a star). Overall, it's an interesting story with lots of twist and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. However, there were also times when I felt like the descriptions were way overdone. I get that she's painting the mental picture for the audience so it has to be detailed but I often grew bored when I got to page 3 of some new character's face description. Of course, that's an exaggeration, but you get my point. That being said, I do still plan on coming back to read the rest of the series.

As satisfactory as it feels to wrap up a good book, the hardest part is always going through my "to read" list and deciding which one to start next. Even when there's more in the series I feel the need to switch to another author mid-series. It's as if I think that I'm going to be labeled as some close-minded and not well rounded reader if I don't explore a new authors' work with every book.

Fortunately, I came to realize that choosing books because of that is ridiculous and I can read whatever I want, which brought me back to James Patterson's Women's Murder Club series, where I will pick up with "4th of July".
