Memorial Day Weekend is (almost) here and I don't have any crazy plans but I'm pretty excited about laying out and reading three days in a row. I haven't been this tan since the early years of college.
For the majority of the time I was working at the car dealership in Lubbock, I worked Saturdays too so if I had too many errands or house chores to do on Sundays then I really never got to work on my tan, so I'm relishing the luxury. :)
Luckily, Tyler and I have gotten a little better about picking up after ourselves and doing light cleaning during the week so the house isn't a disaster by the time the weekend rolls around. It's nice to I know I don't have hours of house cleaning that needs to be done, but I also know that I definitely need to get wedding to-dos done and crossed off my list so that I'll stop freaking out every day when I change the number on the countdown chalkboard.
How cute is that board?! Anita gave it to me for Mother's Day (as a puppy mom, don't start any rumors) and it's supposed to hold your tablet while you're cooking, but I haven't put in the effort and cooked anything I need a recipe for in a while, so I prefer to use it for this!
While we were in Midland last weekend for Kutter's 1st birthday,
we took the opinionated Flower Girl shopping for a dress and shoes, tried on the older kiddo's outfits and I had the MOH try on her dress with a pair of shoes I brought with me just to see what they looked like with the dress (it's a go!) so that cleared up a few question mark to-dos from my list. We also looked through some décor that my aunt left at my mom's, counted how many vases my mom has, and Tyler and I looked through way too many photo albums to see what kind of embarrassing childhood photos could be displayed at this shindig. Luckily, there's not too many of my lovely awkward age, just a bunch of awesome kid haircuts that I really enjoy giving my mom a hard time about! ;)
Chili Bowl meets Mullet
and yes, I'm wearing a shirt that says Kellie, unless you're an only child (or maybe the oldest kid) then you get this.
Things I can cross off my Wedding To-do List:
- Flower Girl shoes (TOO stinkin' cute!)
- Flower Girl dress (we don't actually have this yet, but we at least FINALLY found one we like and it will be in soon to have a couple alterations done to make it perfect)
- Gown Alterations (these aren't done, but I had an appointment on Tuesday to get them started and I go back next Thursday for the fitting, fingers crossed there's no need for a second round!)
- Groomsmen's outfits complete (still need to see what kind of shoes each has so that they're at least similar, but I have no intentions of making them (or the bridesmaids) all wear matching shoes, just too expensive for the look we're going for)
- Passports are in!
- Tyler's shoe issue isn't solved yet, but I found a repair place that can fix them for a good price and in a surprisingly short turn-around time. I would get it all wrong if I took them myself so it's on my list for next weekend to take him out there and get that started.
P.S. Sorry about being so vague, but I'm trying not to give away ALL of the details beforehand so that there are still some surprises left come the day of :)
Kingsley found and helped herself to my boots,
then came out of her bedroom fixed up and dressed for the day wearing her big brother's boots.
Still wish I'd been able to talk her into putting mine back on with her jean shorts! :)
Speaking of Mother's Day, this is from our brunch get together. Tommy was there too, he was waiting on his momma to get to town so he could take her out.
