That escalated quickly...

First things first, I want to apologize for the lack of postings. I kicked wedding work into high gear last week and actually got quite a bit done. Unfortunately, most of what I accomplished was gifts for the wedding party so I can't spill any of that top secret info until it's no longer a secret, tune in sometime later this summer. Until then, I'll do my best to post in between busy, productive nights.

Tyler and I had our first meeting with the wedding coordinator last night, my first Starbucks squatting! For a little more than 2 hours, we went over our idea of how we want it all to flow and asking Carrie's opinion on every detail along the way. I'm so glad we decided to include her in our big day because I can tell she's going to make things a million times easier for not only me, but for my mom, Tyler's mom, and everyone else that would otherwise be asked to do random, last minute jobs we hadn't thought of or taken care of beforehand. Of course with everything she brought up during just the first visit that we hadn't thought of, I don't thing there's much that won't already have a plan of attack.

After we closed our notebooks and thanked each other for meeting up, Tyler and I got in the truck and my mind raced, non-stop, for the next 6 hours. I'm not exaggerating on that, either, I actually tried counting sheep because I was wide awake at 2 am making mental, and then on my phone, lists of all the new tasks. (FYI - Sesame Street lied, sheep don't make you tired.) I told Tyler that I simultaneously felt relieved and overwhelmed. Yes, I still have lots to do, and yes, it's even more than I already had listed, but at the same time I know that it's a good thing to have it brought to my attention. Sure, it's a bit of a shock to see my to-do list triple in size, but I just need to remind myself that not all of them are weekend long projects, some are a simple phone call or email. Not to mention, I have some really talented resources that I haven't fully tapped into yet! Sometimes it's hard asking for help, even with the simplest of tasks, but I'm working on it and if you're one of these helpers and I start slamming you with requests, you'd better tell me to hit the brakes!

Do yall realize how many song pickings are required for a wedding?!? There's the obvious ones: walking down the aisle, walking up the aisle, first dance, and then there's the not so obvious ones that I haven't been listening for all this time: entering the reception, wedding party entering the reception, cake cutting, garter/bouquet tosses. Good grief, how am I supposed to choose the perfect songs for all of these short but memorable moments?

Wedding planning is definitely a full time job, if I didn't have somewhere else to be 9 hours every day I could blow through this list, and keep up with all of the rest of those pesky day to day duties. But I suppose I'll have to hike on my big girl panties to do like everyone else and plan this wedding with out quitting my job. Rough life, eh?
